Purpose of the role

The position holder manages all merchandising duties until order confirmation, including product development, sampling, price negotiations, critical path alignment to ensure hit rate.

The Merchandiser / Senior Merchandiser communicates and works collaboratively with the whole Hardware & Electronics team in HK (Buyers, CMs, Head of Categories) as well as the Production Manager in China to support production team to ensure the on-time delivery of orders globally. The Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser interacts on a daily basis with the Account team overseas to ensure smooth work on all his projects as well as with the Design team on product development/sampling.

The Merchandiser / Senior Merchandiser is also responsible for innovative Hardware & Electronics related products sourcing with suppliers, during market visits or during fairs/tradeshows.

Role and Responsibilities

• Perform Product development and new product sourcing activities

• Liaise with suppliers & Sales teams for quotation, sample coordination and support the production team if required till shipment

• Negotiate with suppliers to meet sales team’s cost and quality requirements as well as ensure the Procurement KPIs,

• Assist in brand development, trends and market research to support new market and products development

• Support line manager in executing product development, samples arrangement and administration matters

Skills, knowledge, experience and exposure

• Good experienced in Gift & Promotional/Sundries product development and production, particularly for leading brands customers. Categories are such as Metal, Plastic, Wood & Electronic Items, etc.

• Responsible for product sourcing, new vendor development, sample arrangement, price negotiation, and costing.

• Work closely with overseas customers and suppliers for quotation follow-up, sample arrangement, and order follow-up.

• Experience in order processing from development to production.

• Experience in product development and solid experience and knowledge in cost saving is a MUST.

• Handle new product development to bulk production.

• Risk mitigation and claim settlement.

• Ensure on-time delivery in full.

• Background gained from trading or manufacturing company.

• 3–5 years relevant working experience in merchandising or production.

• Travelling to China is required.
