Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is mainly to assist with the control and maintenance of the company’s On-Premise IT Infrastructure.
The post holder would work in alignment with the other members of the #OneITTeam to ensure service reliability in particular working closely with the On-Premise Infrastructure Engineer to ensure project and issue prioritisation.
- Assist with maintaining and supporting infrastructure, making sure issues are mitigated before they cause an impact on the company or its clients.
- Understand systems and methods of recovery to ensure priority and prompt resolution to outages.
- Learn and understand system backups and procedures so system availability is maintained.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all systems and infrastructure.
- Be a point of escalation for the IT Service Desk where required.
- Escalate to the Infrastructure Engineer when investigations and resources are exhausted, or if a critical situation is occurring.
- Run support tickets, changes and incidents in line with ITIL frameworks.
- Identify areas of improvement in both the infrastructure and department processes.
- Keep abreast of the latest technologies to make sure the company always has the tools and setup it requires to function at its best.
- To ensure ticket Service Level Agreements are met and adhered to as much as possible making escalations minimal.
- Any other ad-hoc works as requested by the Global Infrastructure Manager.
Strategic Planning & Decision Making:
- Identify areas of improvement in the infrastructure and work with the whole IT team to make changes where required.
- Prioritise support tickets to ensure that business-affecting issues are dealt with in line with SLAs.
- Make decisions to ensure system stability, ensuring uptime is in line with previous years, service restoration is quick and disaster recovery scenarios are planned.
- Always provide efficient customer service.
- Escalating issues to guarantee that problems are resolved within SLAs.
Relationships:
- An extremely close and strong relationship with all members of the #OneITTeam, technology team, local and remote.
- A strong relationship with the IT Infrastructure Engineer, Global IT Infrastructure Manager, and Global Head of IT to ensure that information is cascaded both up and down.
- Working relationship with internal staff to ensure requests are understood on receipt and requirements gathered.
Skills, knowledge, experience, and exposure
- A working knowledge of Office 365.
- An entry-level knowledge of virtualization support experience using both VMWare and HyperV.
- Basic understanding of networks and Cisco support.
- Awareness of Backup solution requirement.
- Exchange Server and SharePoint Server support awareness.
- Good communication skills with people of all levels of the organisation.
- Awareness of ITIL principles.
- Support knowledge within a Windows and Mac environment.
Mindset to navigate the role
- A hunger to provide a best-of-class support function.
- An understanding of On-Premise IT Infrastructures and a variety of operating systems.
- A well-organised approach to work planning and time allocation to tasks, providing great and efficient customer service and support to multiple business areas at all times.
- Take ownership of analysis, manage the tickets independently, and collaborate to solve the requests/issues.
- Ability to document infrastructure.
